Tina Mari Rucker

Artist and Owner of T. Mari Art Gallery

Tina Mari Rucker drew from many influences around her to become an artist, entrepreneur, filmmaker and writer. She received a BA in film direction from Columbia College Chicago and an MFA at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

While at Columbia, she produced and directed a documentary, Numu Tewa, Speak Comanche. It is based on the Comanche Tribe and Language Preservation committee’s efforts to preserve their culture. She received the largest grant amount from Columbia’s film department at that time and also recipient of the Weisman Scholarship. She was awarded the Illinois Arts Council, At&T Pioneers and the honorable mention from the Red Earth Film & Video Competition. In graduate school, she was awarded a Fellowship and produced several films including a music video and a short documentary.

After graduate school, she fell in love with abstract art. She began dabbling in the creative process, researching, learning techniques and finding her own voice in her works. By 2014, she started her art business.
